Eden Hazard for Ronaldo?
The first big rumor from the Daily Star claims that Los Blancos could be keeping an eye of the Belgian Wunderkind. Hazard is still in his early 20s and has been making waves with Chelsea in the last few years. He tends to play on the left flank, the very position Ronaldo occupies. He is a terrific dribbler and makes rather solid passes in the area. He can score, but he is not a 30 or even 40-goal scorer. Yet.
There is potential, but Hazard is not yet close to the level of Ronaldo. That is not to say that he can never get there. Ronaldo hit the 40 goal mark for the first time in his career at the age of 23 in the 2007-08 season but failed to repeat the feat until the 2010-11 season when he turned 26.
Even if Hazard never reaches that level, he would be a solid replacement. Madrid's offense has some prolific players such as Gareth Bale who could take up the offensive burden. It will be interesting to see how this story develops.

He was decent to start the World Cup before disappearing into anonymity as his team surged to third place.But what makes this rumor most baffling of all is the fact that Madrid already has two strikers. And younger ones at that.Karim Benzema and Javier Hernandez have never been as prolific as Van Persie, but that does not mean that they cannot do it. Hernandez has never really been given the chance to make an impact during his prime years. Benzema may not be a top scorer, but his playmaking and holdup play has allowed Ronaldo and Bale to flourish offensively.

Francisco Guillermo Ochoa Magaña

(born 13 July 1985), commonly referred to as Memo, is a Mexican footballer who plays for Spanish club Málaga and the Mexican national team as a goalkeeper.
Ochoa made his debut for América in 2004 in a league match against Monterrey. He won his first league title in 2005 and was the club's first-choice goalkeeper up until 2011, making over 200 appearances for América. That summer Ochoa was transferred to Ajaccio in France. He spent three seasons with the club until their relegation from Ligue 1. In 2014, he joined Málaga.
A Mexican international since 2005, Ochoa received his first cap during a friendly match against Hungary, which Mexico won 2–0. Club career

América

Guillermo Ochoa made his debut with América during the Clausura 2004 tournament against Monterrey, being only 18 years old when called up by coach Leo Beenhakker. Ochoa quickly demonstrated his skill and talent in goal, and the young goalkeeper was thrust into the spotlight to replace injured veteran Adolfo Ríos. He would then share the starting job with Rios after he recovered from his aforementioned injury.
When the Apertura 2004 tournament began, Ochoa was thought to be the heir apparent to Ríos, who had retired. However, new coach Oscar Ruggeri brought new goalkeepers with him, among them Argentine Sebastián Saja. Ruggeri's stay at the club was marred by controversy and unpopular decisions. He was fired after only six games into the season and Ochoa was soon reinstated by new coach Mario Carrillo. On 4 July 2011 Ochoa signed a three year contract, with an additional one year option, with the recently promoted Ajaccio. Ochoa played in his first two friendlies with Ajaccio against Bordeaux, losing 1–2 and against Real Sociedad, losing 0–4.
He made his official club debut on 5 August 2011 against Toulouse, losing 0–2. On 18 and 21 December Ajaccio won two games in a row, with Ochoa keeping two consecutive clean-sheets, his third clean-sheet in total of the season. Ochoa also contributed in 3–0 victory against Étoile Fréjus Saint-Raphaël in the Coupe de France. On 14 January 2012 he helped Ajaccio with a 2–1 victory over Auxerre, and on 21 January he played against Valenciennes in a 2–1 victory which put Ajaccio out of the relegation zone since the start of the season. Ajaccio won its sixth game with Ochoa in a 2–1 home win against Dijon. For the last game of the season Ajaccio needed a win against Toulouse to get out of the relegation zone. 2012–13 season

On 1 July, Ajaccio's club president Alain Orsoni announced that Ochoa would stay for the 2012–13 season amidst rumored interest from clubs such as Fenerbahçe and Sevilla, but neither the clubs nor Ochoa's manager could come to a solid agreement.
On 11 August, Ochoa started and played against Nice in a 1–0 away win for their first game and win for the season. On 19 August, Ochoa played in Ajaccio's 0–0 draw at home against Paris Saint-Germain, in which he played a big part by keeping a clean sheet. In the third match of the season Ochoa played 60 minutes against Valenciennes in which he had to be substituted out due to a collision with a teammate. Ajaccio lost the match 0–3. On 18 August, Ochoa played all 90 minutes against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes, with Ajaccio taking an early 1–0 advantage, though an Edinson Cavani goal in the 86th minute cost Ajaccio a famous victory, instead having to settle for a 1–1 draw. Ochoa's performance was praised, with many noting that the Mexican had saved 12 of the 39 total shots by PSG.

At the age of 20 Guillermo Ochoa was called up by Mexico's former manager Ricardo La Volpe for the 2006 FIFA World Cup as the third-choice goalkeeper. Newly appointed manager Hugo Sánchez called Ochoa into the national side as a deputy to Mexico's then-number one, Oswaldo Sánchez. In addition to the World Cup, Ochoa has participated in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2007 Copa América. He made his 2010 World Cup qualification debut on 28 March 2009 against Costa Rica. Ochoa made the final 23-man cut for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but was controversially the back-up goalkeeper to veteran Oscar Pérez.
During the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Ochoa, along with four other members of the Mexico national team, tested positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol and were withdrawn from the team's tournament squad. All players were later acquitted by Mexican Football Federation and the results blamed on contamination of meat, with the ingestion of clenbuterol considered non-intentional. However, the World Anti-Doping Agency appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to request a ban. But on 12 October 2011, WADA withdrew this request after the full file was available for them.

2014 World Cup

On 9 May 2014 Ochoa was named in Mexico's 23-man squad for the 2014 World Cup.He started in Mexico's opening match against Cameroon on 13 June, which ended in a 1–0 victory for Mexico.^[ The match was Ochoa's debut in a World Cup, having been called up for the previous two tournaments but failing to appear in a match. He made one important diving save. On 17 June, in the second group stage match against hosts Brazil, Ochoa made four stunning saves, including one following a powerful header from Neymar that immediately drew comparisons to Gordon Banks' famed 1970 save against Pelé, helped Mexico secure a 0–0 draw, and was named man of the match. His performance in the match earned praise from many, including Brazilian head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari. Ochoa himself commented on his performance, saying: "It was the match of my life. To do it in a World Cup, in front of all the fans, it's incredible." Ochoa conceded one goal against in the group stage, in the 3–1 victory against Croatia that qualified Mexico for the Round of 16. England took control of its group by beating toughest challenger Switzerland on the road.

Coming off its disappointing World Cup, Spain overcame a few nervous moments to ease past Macedonia 5-1 with five different goal scorers. Although the defending European champions began well with early goals by Sergio Ramos and Paco Alcacer, Macedonia countered with a 28th-minute scored by Agim Ibraimi that unsettled the Spaniards.
However, captain Iker Casillas in goal stood firm and that helped Spain recover its self-confident, rapid-passing game. Sergio Busquets, David Silva and Pedro Rodriguez added goals.
Also in Group C, Slovakia won 1-0 at Ukraine, and Luxembourg held Belarus to a 1-1 draw.

Danny Welbeck scored twice to give England respite from criticism and a 2-0 win at Switzerland.
Welbeck finished off Raheem Sterling's pass on a fast counter-attack in the 58th minute and slotted in a right-footed shot deep into stoppage time.
England's lead was preserved in the 70th by defender Gary Cahill sliding to block Josip Drmic's shot after the Swiss substitute dribbled around goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Also in Group E on Monday, Lithuania won 2-0 at San Marino, and Estonia beat Slovenia 1-0.

Sweden midfielder Erkan Zengin scored his first international goal to help his team draw with Austria 1-1 as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was kept scoreless in his 100th international.
Zengin controlled the ball on the chest before sending it past goalkeeper Robert Almer in the 12th minute to level the score. David Alaba had given Austria the lead five minutes earlier, scoring from the penalty spot after Sebastian Larsson blocked an attempted cross from the Austria midfielder with his arm.
Ibrahimovic never came close to scoring and was yellow-carded in the first half after hitting Alaba with his elbow and roughly tackling Martin Harnik within two minutes.
Also in Group G, Russia downed Liechtenstein 4-0 to lead after the opening round, and Montenegro beat Moldova 2-0.
Russia was handed a 2-0 lead by own goals from Liechtenstein midfielder Martin Buechel, who deflected Sergei Ignashevich's free kick in the fourth, and defender Franz Burgmeier in the 50th minute.
Dmitri Kombarov converted a penalty in the 54th and Artem Dzyuba scored 11 minutes later to double the score for coach Fabio Capello's team.

Brazil soccer field harnesses player-power

 -- Kids streaking back and forth on a soccer field in scorching tropical heat promises to produce something more than buckets of sweat.

Billed as Brazil's first player-powered soccer pitch, a field inaugurated Wednesday in a Rio de Janeiro slum harnesses the kinetic energy of players' movements to provide nighttime illumination.
Soccer legend Pele was on hand for the pomp-filled event in the Morro da Mineira slum, which saw a local youth team put the system to the test.
Under the project, sponsored by Royal Dutch Shell, around 200 energy-capturing tiles developed by British startup Pavegen were installed the width and breadth of the field and covered by a layer of AstroTurf. Working in conjunction with solar panels also installed around the field, the player-powered tiles feed electricity to a system of floodlights overhead.

                                      

While the head of Pavegen, engineer Laurence Kemball-Cook, took pains not to reveal the exact science behind the tiles, his father and the company's chairman, Richard Kemball-Cook, said they use a system of cogs. When stepped on, the cogs spin like tops and act like generators, he said.
Each tile now costs about $500, but the price is falling as the 35-employee company refines its manufacturing process, Kemball-Cook said.
Pavegen has installed similar tiles in train stations in Europe, shopping centers in Australia and Terminal 3 of London's Heathrow Airport, Laurence Kemball-Cook said, but the soccer field is a first.

"We've effectively turned this community into a real-life science experiment," he said. "I believe this technology can be one of the future ways we illuminate our cities."
Pele got emotional over the project, tearing up as he said he hoped the new field would help spark local kids' interest not only in soccer but in science.
"My father named me Edson after Thomas Edison," said the longtime star striker, whose birth name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento.
He said he hopes the next generation of Brazilians will help bring the country as much success in science as it has had in soccer.
"I'm sure that soon the No. 1 scientists in the world are going to be Brazilians," Pele said as he brushed aside a tear.

Mexican Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez has taken it with both hands and followed in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham in making the trip from Manchester United to Los Merengues.
After making a final appearance for Manchester United in Milton Keynes in the 4-0 Capital One Cup loss last week, 26-year-old Hernandez could make his debut for Real Madrid on Sept. 13 in the Bernabeu against Raul Jimenez’s Atletico.
It isn’t difficult to see the appeal and why European champion Real Madrid became the priority after it seemed Juventus and Valencia were at the front of the line when Hernandez became available.
The elephant in the room and most obvious doubt surrounding the move is playing time.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti plays with only one central striker and Karim Benzema is the regular. Ronaldo and even Gareth Bale can play in the center forward position, too.

 

Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez 

The simple answer is that there is no guarantee of starts, although it isn’t inconceivable that Hernandez could dislodge the France international. That will be his initial goal.
And although Chicharito may not have enjoyed his finest past year, it is worth remembering that at his best and in a team that plays to his strength, his striking ratio is first class. He’s also played a Champions League final and has a wealth of experience already in the bank.
Real Madrid’s rapid, counterattacking style should offer Hernandez the room to operate in the poacher role that made him such a hit in Manchester when he made the jump from Chivas after the 2010 World Cup.
The risk from Hernandez’s point of view is that if he doesn’t get that playing time, it will affect his confidence and his role for the Mexico national team, which has plummeted from being one of the first names on the team sheet to a substitute role in the last 12 months.
But Real Madrid will balance the league, cup, Champions League and the Club World Cup this season. The club will play plenty of matches and Hernandez is definitely better off there than at Manchester United. At Old Trafford, Hernandez was fourth choice for a team that isn’t in Europe and is already out of one of the domestic cup competitions.
More than anything though, the move reaffirms that Hernandez continues to be the most important player in Mexican soccer at present and, in time, will go down as one of the most successful. There is arguably nowhere better to continue that legacy than at Real Madrid.
The potential rewards are obviously huge and when Real Madrid came calling, Hernandez was right to roll the dice and gamble.
